Pumpkin patch

Every year, the youth group at a church near our house has a pumpkin patch.  The proceeds go to benefit the youth group.  One of Vann's former student's dad runs the pumpkin patch and we have been going there for years to get our pumpkins.  This year, we were so excited that we got to share the experience with Margot and have the opportunity to take some really cute pictures.

A great time was had by all.  And we got some very nice pumpkins to decorate our porch for the fall!

5 months

Margot is five months old now!  The time is really flying by.  She has become a very curious baby.  She loves trying new food.  She is interested in everything around her.  Neville is quickly becoming a very good friend.  Vann said the other day that he loves the age she is at right now and I have to agree with him.  She is starting to have a great personality and I can't wait to see what else she is going to discover in the coming months.  I know we are going to be scooting soon.  She can already turn herself in a circle on the her stomach on the floor.  She also rolls over all the time from front to back and back to front.  Here are some pictures from her 5 month birthday.  As you can see in the last one, she is very interested in grabbing at things now.

We have had so many friends have babies over the last year and Margot has really enjoyed interacting with them and likes all the children at day care also.  Here is a picture of Margot and Avery (they are two weeks apart) sharing rings.

Making baby food

I decided to make my own baby food.  It seemed as if it was going to be cheaper and more fresh than food in jars.  It has actually turned out to be really easy.  So far I have made butternut squash, carrots, peas, bananas, pears, and nectarines.  I have green beans and apples to make this week.  Margot has enjoyed all of the food so far.  She is a very good eater and will try anything new.  The food has been super easy to make.  I just steam it and use an emersion blender to puree.  The food stays good in the freezer for 6 weeks so I can make a batch and have plenty for a while.  I also bought a baby puree cookbook that has given me suggestions on other foods to try and what to mix together.  I am very happy with the results so far.

Gamecocks

 Over the weekend, there was a BIG game in Columbia, SC.  ESPN Gameday came to the Horseshoe to cover the Georgia/USC game.  We decided we would head down to the campus and see what we could.  We went with Catherine and Jeff and saw our friends, the Plexicos.  There was a huge crowd and lots of cheering for our Gamecocks.  We are looking forward to the end of the month and hopefully taking Margot to the Tennessee game so she can get her first taste of football.

Sweet potatoes!

Margot seems to love sweet potatoes more than she likes cereal. Going to attempt to start making my own baby food this weekend.
