The playground

We took Margot to the playground in our neighborhood today for the first time.  It was a beautiful day and she had a great time trying out all the toys!

The GI bug and Pneumonia don't mix well

This past week Margot developed the gi bug as well as double ear infections and pneumonia.  Imagine what that must be like for a 10 month old.  She was refusing to eat because her ears and her tummy were hurting.  I was trying to give her liquids but nothing was staying down.  We went to the doctor and got some meds for the ear infections but that just makes little tummies hurt even more.  So at 3am on Thursday morning, after not having a dirty diaper for more than 12 hours, I decided we needed to go to the ER for some IV fluids.  Poor little chickie was so dehydrated that several nurses could not find a vein to start an IV on her.  Finally after sticking her four times, they found one in her foot and we got some fluids.  Margot finally settled down and fell asleep at this point.  We were getting ready to be discharged home and they decided to check her vitals one more time.  At this point, her oxygen saturation was really down and they became really concerned.  She got started on some oxygen and we got sent to XRay.  What did they find but pneumonia, on top of everything else.  So we got admitted to Mommy's Children's Hospital for IV antibiotics.  Seeing your child with oxygen and IV lines is not a good time.  She looked so out of it and sad.  Not the fun loving little girl we are used to.  As they day wore on, I began feeling bad.  I wasn't sure if it was from being awake since 2am or if I was getting sick also.  Well, our bad luck continued and it turned out I also was give the dreaded GI bug.  I guess that is what you get when you are covered with your child's puke all day.  Poor Vann had to send me home from the hospital while he stayed to spend the night with our poor sick little girl.  However, on Friday we all bounced back.  Margot was looking much spunkier and I felt way better.  We spent Friday at the hospital trying to keep her entertained as she was wanting to go everywhere.  We finally got home from the hospital just in time for bed on Friday night.  On Saturday, the whole family slept until 10am.  12 hours for each of us!  We have spent the weekend recovering and doing lots and lots of laundry.  Back to work and school on Monday!

Our favorite toy

Margot loves her rings.  She will sit and stack them for a long time by herself.  Daddy has recently been teaching her the proper color order and she does pretty well with it.  She will also laugh at herself when she puts them on wrong and they don't fit properly.

Walking (almost)!

Margot has taken lots of steps for us over the past few weeks but hasn't been brave enough to do it without Mommy and Daddy asking her to.  She will stand up on her own but goes to take a step and realizes it is easier to crawl.  We know any day now she is going to be running all over the house!

10 Months

Margot is 10 months old!  She is continuing to grow and discover new things each day.  She will eat just about anything in sight and likes to try new food.  We have discovered that she will say "mmm" when you give her ice cream.  And boy, does she scream for it when she sees the container!  She has a mind of her own and has discovered that she does not like the word "no."  If you say it to her, she will stop what she is doing but then she sits on the floor and cries.  She has started to be brave this month and has taken a few steps on her own, usually with Mommy and Daddy egging her on.  Neville and her continue to be the best of friends, especially now that Margot has discovered how to share food with him!  She teases him with that and with toys and thinks it is quite the fun game when he tries to get something from her.  She is moving up at day care to the next room which is quite an adventure for us.  They go down to one nap a day and actually have a set schedule now so we are working on changing over to that.  Margot continues to be a happy go lucky child and we are so lucky to watch her grow.
